Port Townsend Fall Blowout (Blow IN).

My parents chose to reserve a spot at the Point Hudson Marina and RV park in Port Townsend for the last week before the Autumnal Equinox and invited us to join them. Of course, I said yes, but didn't pay attention to the fact that we planned to leave on a two month R-Pod trip nine days after we returned. The equinox was on the day after we got home on the 22nd, and we were leaving on October 1st for Key West, Florida, just about the farthest point we could drive to in the US from our little northwest corner. It turned out to be a great shake down cruise, so to speak, and it help me build up some excitement for the bigger trip to come. This was the week of the big film festival, so town was pretty full, but we made our reservations so far in advance that it didn't matter much until our friends that live north of Seattle decided to come and join us for the weekend by getting a hotel room. They had trouble finding one, but did manage to get something on the opposite end of town from us. Still, we had a great weekend with them to cap off our week. We also lucked out with great weather until the last day, when a big storm blew in to remind us of the first day of fall the next day as we drove home.

We had a nice drive to Point Hudson, and got set up on the point in our spot. J and C joined us for five days starting on day 2, so we got to spend some time with them as well as with Mom and Dad. Russ and I did get out more than they all did, starting with my favorite breakfast treat: Better Living Through Coffee. I just love to sit it that cozy place, writing in my journal, sipping on a Chetzemoka, and watching the boats pass by. We walked to Uptown and stocked up on pastries and bread at Pane D'Amore. I still managed to watch Rockbjornen Live on YouTube (it was in Sweden, so in the morning for me). We went to the (new name but old Doc's) Salish Grill for a nice dinner with everyone. Russ and I tried Propolis Brewing's Tap Room, and we finally made it to the Jefferson County Museum of Art + History with Mom and Dad. I liked it, especially the art.

I didn't see any. 😞

So much temptation.

Propolis Brewing.

Cozy spot to enjoy a beer or a cider.

Propolis has a nice outdoor area, too.

I like their logo glasses.

Port Townsend has a wealth of public art.

Our friends (one started out as Russ' co-worker) joined us on the weekend after J and C left. We tried a new to us restaurant in town with them, Tommyknockers. It specialized in Cornish Pasties and was excellent. There were lots of vegan choices for me. I think we'll be back there next time we visit. Our friends also suggested we drive out to Finn River Cidery and Farm in Chimacum. This was a win as well. The weather was so perfect and the place was the right one to enjoy a thin crust, wood fired pizza and a cider made from local fruits. We mostly ate at our favorite restaurants with them, and we did some shopping.

A wonderful place to spend the afternoon with friends.

They had dozens of ciders.

C. ordered the burger.

Dad wanted fish and chips with some to take home.

M. also went for the burger. It's a good choice.

Low clouds with the smoke haze from wild fires on the horizon.

Cedar wants out! The crows tease him.

Crow on a pole.

Lots of deer in town. They aren't usually at the marina though.

I take this photo every time we visit.

Birds on rigging.

Old pilings. This is the Straight of Juan de Fuca.

It was such a good spot.

Hood Canal Bridge traffic on the way home.

This was a great way to get back into the R-Pod. It also convinced us that we need a new mattress. My back was hurting by the end of the week. Luckily, we had enough to time to order one and take delivery before it's time to leave for Florida. I'm so glad we got to spend some extended time with friends and family before we leave for the next two months!
