On the Road and Enjoying the Ride

Life on the road is beautiful, surprising, tiring, fun, delicious, stressful and fulfilling. We're putting in long driving days because this journey started and ends with a scheduled event. We need to be in Silverton, Colorado by September 24th, so we will be there.

Cedar is traveling well this time. He just sleeps in his carrier in the truck as we drive. I'm glad he adjusted to the journey; last time he would yowl for hours until he wore himself out.

Snake River sunset.

This is from the RV Park in Heyburn, Idaho.

It's good to stretch out after a long day in the carrier.

One highlight so far was the McCoy Flats Road dispersed camping site. It was so beautiful, plus quiet, dark and lonely. It even had good cell reception, so I could stream video if I wanted. I did a lot of Spanish lessons online.

Rabbit Brush in bloom. I'm allergic.

I love these sunflowers. They frame the highways this time of year.

We met our friends who are vacationing in Loveland, Colorado for dinner at Henry's. The food was great and the company even better. We were here a few years ago for their wedding, so it was fun to be back here with them again.

Food and friends.

Shrimp and grits.

Masala sweet potato fries. OMG.

Fall color! The aspens are in their prime.

Grand Mesa from I80.

We drove through Rocky Mountain National Park to get to Grand Junction, CO for our overnight spot. We didn't have a reservation, so we were instructed not to stop in the park, and we didn't, but I got some great photos from the moving truck. We were here just a few years ago and did stop at every viewpoint and did two hikes, so it was fine to just drive through this time. Road conditions were good, and we loved the scenery. It's nice to see the fall colors in their prime. Last year we missed the leaf change completely, as we were in hot, hot, hot, southern Texas. It's been lovely.
