Memories of a Trip to Port Townsend

Way back in September, Russ and I met my parents at Point Hudson Marina and RV Park in Port Townsend, Washington for what has become an annual trip. This year, we weren't joined by any other relatives or friends, so it seemed even more relaxing and chill. It always feels like such a huge lift to pack up the R-Pod and leave, even for such a local destination, but I'm glad to get it done and just zone out in the passenger seat as we drive.

We always stop here on our way to Port Townsend.

The Hood Canal Floating Bridge.

I've been sleeping poorly, and so many things clamor for my attention: things to do, things to finish, things to listen to, things to watch, things to read. Port Townsend, any trip really, puts limits on the things that are possible, so I have a better chance to rest my mind and to live in the moment. Focusing on the now and not the future is one of the most difficult things for me. It has been like this for as long as I can remember, so a long time.

Extra days give me extra time.

The rental truck for the drive home.

It's so big and fancy compared to our truck.

The bonus lamp I bought with the bonus day in town.

The truck wouldn't start (this was a new development, it's been super reliable). We had to get it towed all the way back to Tacoma to get seen; the places closer in were busy until next week. Turns out our truck has a computer feature called "the Imobilizer" that decided were were not going to move. It didn't take much to fix it, just a hard reset from inside the computer. Our truck slept too well, but I slept well too, so I have no complaints. We has a lovely trip.
