Reunion and Relaxation

We enjoyed the family reunion. It has been very hot here, so the shade at the outdoor venue by the Animas River in Aztec, New Mexico was welcome. Family came from all over the country, from both coasts and from the middle states, too. I think we last saw many of these people at least fifteen years ago, when we had the reunion in Echo Basin, in southern Colorado. We were able to update a lot of contact information, so we will be able to stay in better touch with everyone.

Too much food, as usual.

Always with the devices.

Thank goodness for the shade.

My favorite sign at Riverfront Park.

I also really love every chance to visit with Russ' brother and his family that live in New York. We see them via zoom sometimes, and have visited occasionally, but since we are on the west coast, the east coast is more of flight commitment. They stayed long enough to really enjoy our time together.

Dinner al fresco.

It cools off when the sun goes behind Mt. Nebo.

Coffee and conversation.

The brother's safety meeting (irrigation duty).

A young buck tries for the early apples.

Brunch at Elda's Mexican Kitchen.

Russ and I have also been able to get some chores done and enjoy our favorite spots in Famington, Aztec and Durango. We did the grocery shopping, got the truck washed, ate at some good restaurants, and visited Honeyville for some treats.

Monkey Shine Car wash.

It's like a disco.

Swish.

Rubia's. Delicious New Mexican food in Aztec.

Beer, chips and fresh salsa.

The tables made from 14 Hands Wine Barrels. We go to this winery in Washington.

A twist from Vanilla Moose on a hot day.

Kachina Kitchen in Durango, Colorado.

Bean Navajo Taco with green chile and a sopapilla.

Cliches on display.

So many.

More.

More.

There are always beautiful moments at the house, too. The most special for me was when we ceremoniously destroyed the cigarettes left after my father-in-law died last year (one day after the one year anniversary of his death).

Don't smoke, please.

Goodbye.

Hummingbirds are migrating right now.

Homemade spinach and feta pie. So good.

The crescent moon with Venus.

The old bridge from the new boat launch.

The Animas River across the highway from the house.

Russ appreciates the view.

The old railroad bridge footing.

We are staying for just another week or so before we head back north. I need to set up and make reservations for our stops on the route home. I find it difficult to motivate myself to do anything at all. I have a lot of trouble staying fit here, especially with high temperatures we have now. I have been reading a lot, so it feels like time is moving forward anyway.
