After our almost mandatory stop at Erick Schat's Bakkery, we turned north and east. Hwy 395 North of Bishop advertised bad conditions with chains required, so we took the lower, longer road to Reno and then moved east and north to Janesville, California. We stayed at a Harvest Host there, Benson's Humble Homestead. It was terrific. Cedar loved the sheep and got his walk before the many dogs were out and about. I bought a fair number of winter seasonal offerings and some treats (persimmons and toffee).

The drive through Nevada and Oregon was cold and sometimes icy, especially as we approached our stop for the night in La Pine, Oregon. When we went to hook up, all the locks were frozen, and I had to chip ice to get the slide out, too. All our water froze up, so we were glad to be able to use the RV park restrooms. We also ended up going out for breakfast at Shari's on the way through Bend, Oregon because we didn't have water available to make coffee.

Almost home. Mount Hood barely visible beyond the gorge ridge.

We made it home safely and I managed to get the R-Pod mostly unpacked before I collapsed into bed. The slightly shorter two months was much easier that the three month long trip that we have been doing. I didn't ever feel quite as homesick. It wasn't the easiest drive home. Last year we left later, but still had much better driving conditions. We arrived home in time to go to a memorial service and to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family.
