Getting about town is for the Birds

We have been getting out more now that we are vaccinated, especially to our favorite local restaurants. I'm still cooking up a storm with the fresh ingredients from the farmer's market, but it is nice to have evenings (and mornings) when I don't need to decide what to cook. We also started to meet up with friends for hiking and meals out... I missed it so much. I really missed the energy of the world around me. I love having dinner at the bar and feeling all the life in the room from people we will never know, doing their own things.

Beer and hot dogs at The Red Hot.

With friends at Dukes on their deck.

Russ and a rhubarb drop at Anthony's Point Defiance.

Cutting the loaf at the Old Spaghetti Factory.

The Red Hot (again) with my parents.

The beer smiles at me.

The weather has been mostly perfect, with one atmospheric river thrown in to keep it northwest. We restarted a weekly hike at Point Defiance with friends, and it has shown us nature at it's best, with views of the sound, deer, raccoons, an owl (it got the squirrel!), and a bald eagle. I also snapped some shots of seagulls and geese at an outdoor dinner. I finally bought and put up a bird feeder in our backyard. What fun! We've always had a bird friendly yard, but this has made it even better. Some of the garden produce (chard and strawberries) has been nibbled by our furry visitors, but so far the plants are holding their own.

The hummingbird feeder (this one has been up for years)

Turtles on a log at Snake Lake.

Ducks on a log.

The trail at Snake Lake.

Seagulls hoping for a snack next to the restaurant deck.

A gaggle of geese.

The bald eagles like the snags along the water.

Squirrel naps in our backyard.

Bad picture of a barred owl butt as it eats.

The new bird feeder with dark clouds behind.

And the final food and random about town picture round up....

Hominy and hatch green chile casserole

Infusing my cleaning vinegar with mint and lavender.

Breakfast outside.

Strawberry shortcake. Strawberries are in season here!

Broiled salmon with soba edamame salad and a Gin & Tonic.

Soy tacos with a margarita.

Fruit and yogurt breakfast before assembly.

Shakshoka. Yum!

Cheese board for dinner.

Two peas in a pasta with wine.

Lemon and pepper tuna salad sandwich.

Strawberry daiquiri. Strawberries are in season here!

I found this funny, someone had a change of hearts.
